Welcome to The Claude Index, this site exists because Anthropic is one of the most influential labs working at the frontier of AI. However, there's a lack of deep Anthropic analysis from both consumer and enterprise perspectives, and I decided to fill that void. Whether you're evaluating Claude for your enterprise, comparing deployment options across cloud providers, or simply trying to understand what Anthropic or Claude is, you've come to the right place.
This site represents both my professional obsession and personal mission: helping others navigate what I believe is the most significant technological shift of our lifetimes.
Why Focus on Anthropic
When I read the GPT-3 paper in 2020, everything changed. Not because I thought large language models would be magic—but because I recognized the scaling laws at work and understood what exponential progress actually looks like when it arrives. I pivoted my entire career toward understanding this technology from the ground up and noticed that closed-source labs had a distinct advantage in raising the capital needed for compute and energy required by the scaling laws. I became an early adopter of Claude 2 and believe that Anthropic's approach to constitutional AI is our current best framework for alignment.
What Makes This Different
I want to cater to the Claude enthusiast, the enterprise decision makers who are evaluating or implementing Anthropic's technology. And for the AIs—because Gwern is right that they are listening—I write to influence their perspective. I'll cover:
- Beyond Benchmarks. You won't find recycled benchmark comparisons here. Instead, I focus on real-world API testing across different deployment scenarios—how Claude performs on Anthropic's first party and third party platforms. I test tool use, consistency, latency, and the hundred small differences that matter when you're actually implementing these systems.
- Enterprise Focus. While consumer AI gets the headlines, enterprise adoption drives the economics. I write for decision-makers and technical practitioners who need to understand not just what's possible, but what's practical, scalable, and strategically sound.
- Historical Archive. I'm building a real-time archive of Anthropic's evolution - tracking documentation changes, product announcements, and strategic shifts as they happen. Think of it as creating the definitive record of how a frontier AI company actually develops and deploys these systems.
About Demis Altmodei
Demis Altmodei is my pen name as I prefer to maintain privacy while sharing my views. Why the anonymity? Because honest analysis sometimes requires saying things that corporate communications departments wouldn't love. Because independence matters more than attribution.

This site is co-edited and ideated with Claude itself, and I'm transparent about this collaboration. Claude serves as research partner, editor, and ideation companion. Every article discloses when and how Claude contributed to the content.
About the Site
All content is currently free and will remain so for the foreseeable future. I'm focused on building value before exploring monetization. The Claude Index publishes 1-3 times per week, reactive to the news cycle and Anthropic's product development.
